Date Added: 21/05/2015
SANDY HEATH AND QUARRY WALK
This Walk is the final walk of the year organised by the Sandy Information Centre and forms part of the Bedfordshire Walking Festival.
The Walk goes through areas of woodland, restored heathland and fields, including an area of The Lodge (RSPB) reserve. It starts from the Council Offices in Sandy and proceeds to the RSPB reserve when we will walk along the Firs Path and exit the reserve at the RSPB Gatehouse. From here we will cross Sandy Heath going along the wooded Short and Long Ridings and then proceed along the Deepdale Lane. We will then walk in the Sandy Heath Quarry which is gradually being restored to heathland. After seeing this wonderful landscape we will cross the fields returning to the Short Riding and then have a possible stop for refreshments at the RSPB Gatehouse and then return to the Council offices
Meet at the Council Offices, 10 Cambridge Road, Sandy at 2.30pm. Being part of the Festival there is no charge for this Walk.
