Dementia Friendly Community
Date Added: 06/03/2015
At Sandy Town Council's Policy, Finance and Resources Committee meeting held on February 16 members received a presentation from Mark Fensome of Central Bedfordshire Council which is working in partnership with the Alzheimer's Society to develop Dementia Friendly Communities.
This is part of Central Government's National Dementia Friendly Communities Programmes which focuses on improving the quality of life of people with Dementia so that in these communities people with Dementia will, among other things feel included, be more independent and have more choice and control over their lives.
Members gave their full support for the initiative and it was resolved they would wish to see Sandy become a Dementia Friendly Community. Accordingly a Dementia Friendly training evening will take place on Wednesday 1 April in the Town Council chamber at 10 Cambridge Road, Sandy beginning at 7pm. and to which those interested and willing to assist in launching the necessary recognition process are warmly invited to attend.
Please contact the Council Office on 01767 681491 or email [email protected] to book a place at the training evening.
